I am eager to share this progressive, factual and sound organization to you. I was just introduced to them at a local festival.

This organization is an environmentally, people friendly educational site. Here are some facts that I learned:

There are less than 2,500 Giant Pandas in the wild

There are about 300 N. Atlantic Right Whales left

40 Amur Leopards left...............

Less than 2000 Tigers left in the wild.

By contrast, our own human population is expanding by 227,000 people per day!! At 6.8 billion people, humans are the most populous large mammal on eath and we are growing. Providing for the needs and wants of this many people, especially in high consumption, first world nations and has taken a toll on the earth. Humans are responsible for absorbing approximately 50% of the planets freshwater adn developing 50% of its land mass. As a result, other species are running out of places to live and reproduce. Most experts agree that we are in the middle of an extinction crisis caused by the unsustainable activities of people.

Vermont based (PMC) Population Media Center works to change behaviors and attitudes about reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, land conservation and natural resource preservation in 25 countries.

The key problem facing humanity in the coming century is how to bring a better quality of life for 8 billion or more people without wrecking the environment in the process-Edward O. Wilson, Biologist and Pulitzer Prize winning author

We have looked for, and have not found, any convincing economic argument for continued population growth. The health of our economy does not depend on it, nor does the vitality of business, nor the welfare of the average person-John D. Rockefeller, III, Chairman, Commission on Population and the American Future

We applaud this organizations efforts to curb overpopulation, to educate the masses and to ultimately show responsibility to future generations long after we are gone.
