Doghouses were covered in snow. Dogs should never be chained outside during heavy rain, high heat / humidity or during heavy snowfall. Dogs Deserve Better!! |
||
The stuffed toy beside this doghouse entry shows how little of an access that a dog would actually have if she were to have been tied out during this heavy storm. A dog would have been trapped and her water bowl frozen. Straw can provide some warmth for dogs kept outside, but a doghouse must be waterproof and small enough to retain the dogs' body heat. Placement of a doghouse is important to generate warmth in winter and to shield sun in the summer. Water bowls routinely get kicked over with chained dogs and the water freezes in winter. Being outside all of the time, away from humans and other dogs is unnatural! Dogs love walks on leash and dog parks where they can run. They like FREEDOM like we do. Summertime is deadly for dogs who suffer the heat and humidity. Rainy weather creates muddy paths from dogs who are tied out during long periods. BE KIND; bring your pets inside during extreme temperatures. They want comfort as much as you do. In addition, they will bark less and be less destructive if they live inside with you and their family who takes the time to socialize and exercise their pet. A chained dog is a bored, lonely, unstimulated one who leads an empty life. They depend on you to make their life meaningful. *This was purposely created to surface during the summer months when we wish for cooler temps. It will also be scheduled to appear during winter months also. |
