Vintage white glass concho jeweled dog collar

This unique find is the first of it's kind that I have seen in my 11 years of collecting.

The collar is a leatherette, vinyl one or what we call today (of compassionate origin and not made from animal hides). The oval jewels are made of white glass with an irredescent tone to them. The round studs or spots are plastic.

The attached rabies tag dates this collar from 1970 and was issued in Mishawaka, Indiana at an animal hospital.

Vinyl collars were rigid and often cracked as the collar was bent in a circle to accomodate the pets neck, while leather collars were more pliable at first, if not cared for properly, would rot, crack or become stiff and brittle with age and wear.

Leather absorbed odors from the animal it was used on and from environmental conditions.

Collar, leash and shipping for this online auction item was $10
