Dog License collecting yields stamps for second hobby from ebay purchases.

Sand Collecting, Island dog licenses

This cool stamp depicts kids playing in the sand and building sand castles. This is a stamp from Israel that was on an envelope that contained some dog licenses from Israel. The sender of this letter was nice enough to send me some DEAD SEA sand a few years ago. I had been to the Dead Sea when I was 11 (way before my sand collecting took hold)

I am one of thousands of sand collectors around the world. When I go to a lake, ocean or beach, I collect sand samples and store in little containers. Sometimes I plan a vacation around my hobby.

It is fun to go long distances and to bring back many varieties of sand. I have pink, green, black, red, golden, white and brown sands. Gozo produced some dark red sands for my collection, Hawaii yielded black sand and Bermuda enhanced my collection with pink coral laced sand.

There is even a creek close to me with a sandy perimeter. This was an unexpected sighting that practically nobody is aware of.

Bermuda and Aruba has spectacular beaches.  I just returned from St. John, VI and most of their beaches were considered a United States National Park. They were pristine and some of the nicest in the world, rated world class by Conde' Nast and attracts affluent travelers.

Rent a car and drive around entire islands when you travel. EXPLORE......don't be content to stay at your resort.

I saw a cotton bush/plant on one Virgin Island coastal beach, calabash gourd bushes and found lots of sea glass to go with my sand collection.

On a recent trip to 3 different islands, I was able to collect dog licenses from each one. This took lots of planning, some island hopping by commuter planes and ferries, but it was well worth it. St John doesn't have any airports, so all travelers and residents arrive there by ferry or private boat.

I buy dog licenses from Ebay from Canada to Japan and I get some mighty interesting stamps from time to time. I save them for stamp collectors.
