This is my first book which was published in August 2005. This first printing is a limited edition. It contains photos of dogs who ride in their keepers' cars, trucks, wagons, bicycle baskets, carts, strollers and miscellaneous vehicles. Photos were taken from Beverly Hills, California, Aspen and Meeker Colorado, Bermuda, Aruba, Bonaire, Marsaxlokk, Malta (a fishing village in Malta, south of Venice, Italy) Houston, Texas, South Dakota and everywhere in between. I even have a Car Cat in a photo from Deerfield Beach, Florida. A book signing was held at Borders Book store in Northway Mall in Pittsburgh, Pa on Saturday, Nov. 12th at 2 p.m. This event was so much fun as the bookstore allowed me to bring my dogs inside to entice customers to participate in the book signing. Manual, automatic and disposable 35mm cameras were used in Car Dogs as well as digital cameras. The dog on the left was the parking attendants dog in a State College, Pa. parking lot. The female attendant just parked her car real close to her booth and kept an eye on Mushka as she worked. She was a very sweet dog...The dog below is from Aspen, Colorodo who patiently waited for his keeper to return. Lady Luck was on my side when spotting many of these photos. Dogs (and all animals) capture the eye more than babies, children and adults. Advertisers know this. Sunoco Gas Stations and Geico Insurance Companies are using dogs in cars as their advertising mascots, Prudential Real Estate uses a Golden Retriever puppy placard on their For-Sale signs. Human Faces are often overlooked in ad campaigns, but animals lure and hold the viewers eye. Most car and S.U.V television commercials have dogs in their vehicles or around the family car or van. These soft and hardbound copies are from the first printing (August 2005) and are limited. I have many local engagements scheduled in the upcoming year as well as some on the west coast and in Houston, Texas. The background graphics on the pages are actual dog license tag images and the page numbers are license tag silhouettes that my Publisher, Wayne Dollard of Pittsburgh, Pa. meticulously scanned and graphically traced. This book is composed of about 4 years of photography, many pictures were taken in the state of Pennsylvania where I live. There are 7 original quotes that I have created and are included in the book. The laminated softcover is 15 1/2 ounces in weight and high quality photo paper was used throughout the book. There are 80 photo pages and 10 introductory pages with an excerpt from the first car dog (Bud) who traveled America in 1903. Hardbacks include a dustjacket and printed end sheets. If you cannot find this 8" x 8" book in your bookstore, you may purchase one through me. I will personally sign all books ordered through this site. Hardbacks are $25 and laminated, soft cover books are $20. Add $5.75 extra for shipping and handling costs which includes insurance and tax as well.
